Preferred Eyecare Providers, Inc. was founded in 1986 in Cincinnati, Ohio by a group of optometrists with strong support of Diversified Ophthalmics, Inc. Our mission is to assure patients have access to their independent optometrists under managed care programs. It is our intention to enroll the very best providers throughout the United States. Our goal is to offer quality vision services at affordable rates for the consumer.

We are a subsidiary of Diversified Ophthalmics, Inc., a progressive, market-oriented ophthalmic organization which serves thousands of eye care providers all across the United States. Our President

Dr. James R. Scholles is a practicing optometrist in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was awarded Ohio's "Optometrist of the Year" in 1968. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Ohio Vision Services from 1979-1982 and the National Board of Examiners on Optometry from 1983 - 2001. He has served as President of the Ohio Optometric Association in 1972. In 1989, Dr. Scholles served as President of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. James R. Scholles, an optometrist and an attorney, has authored many articles on optometric clinical-legal subjects in the Journal of American Optometric Association, Review of Optometry and Optometric Management. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States.
